上海的教授对人讲文学，以为文学当描写永远不变的人性，否则便不长久。例如英国，莎士比亚和别的一两个人所写的是永久不变的人性，所以至今流传，其余的不这样，就都消灭了去。这真是所谓“你不说我倒还明白，你越说我越糊涂”了。英国有许多先前的文章不流传，我想，这是总会有的`，但竟没有想到它们的消灭，乃因为不写永久不变的人性。

　Translation:

A Shanghai professor lecturing on literature states that literature should describe the eternal human qualities, otherwise it will not live. For example, in England Shakespeare and a few others wrote about the eternal human qualities, hence they are still read today; other writers failed to do this, and their works perished. This is truly a case of: "The more you explain, the more confused I grow." I am sure it is possible that many earlier English works of literature have been lost, but I never knew that they perished because they failed to describe the eternal human qualities.

近年来，中国政府倡导国内旅游，推行“假日旅游”政策，给公民每年3次为期一周的长假，让他们将更多的储蓄用于旅游、购物和外出就餐。2004年，五一节的总旅游消费达390亿元人民币。目前旅游业收入占国内生产总值的23%。预计到2013年，旅游收入将每年增长10%，并创造4000万个就业机会。旅游的间接收益效益更大，估计创造了1840亿美元的经济活动，以及5400万个就业岗位。

　Translation:

In recent years, the Chinese government has been advocating domestic travel, by introducing "holiday travel" policy and offering its citizen one-week holiday three times a year. In this case, people will have the opportunity to spend more of their savings on traveling, shopping and dining out. The total consumption was up to 39 billion yuan during May Day holiday in 2004. At present, revenue from tourism accounts for 23% of national gross product. It is estimated that revenue from tourism would increase by 10% annually by 2013 and creat 40 million job opportunities. The indirect benefit of tourism is even greater, since it brings out economic activities worthy of about 185 billion and 54 million jobs.
