在屈原的诗作中，还有这样的名句：

“鸾鸟凤皇日以远兮，燕雀乌鹊巢堂坛兮”(见《涉江》)。在这两名诗中竟写出了鸾、凤、燕、雀、乌、鹊6种鸟。

在两汉乐府中，运用动物形象的诗句更多。在长诗《焦仲卿妻》中，利用孔雀和鸳鸯来表达男女之间的感情，而其开头便是“孔雀东南飞，五里一徘徊”，其结尾则是：

“中有双飞鸟，自名为鸳鸯;仰头相向鸣，夜夜达五更。行人驻足听，寡妇起彷徨。”

在《古诗十五从军征》中，有“兔从狗窦入，雉从梁上飞”的语句。在《江南》一诗中，专门刻画了鱼儿在水中嬉戏的场景：“江南可采莲，莲叶何田田，鱼戏莲叶间。鱼戏莲叶东，鱼戏莲叶西，鱼戏莲叶南，鱼戏莲叶北。”短短的7句诗中，竟有5句是写鱼的。在这一时期中，与动物有关的著名诗句还有：“愿为双黄鹄，高飞还故乡”(《古诗步出城东门》);“胡马依北风，越鸟巢南枝”(《古诗行行重行行》)等。

在历史人物曹操仅存的二十几首诗中，运用动物形象的不在少数，如《龟虽寿》里，就写了3种动物：

“神龟虽寿，犹有竟时;腾蛇成雾，终为土灰。老骥伏枥，志在千里;烈士暮年，壮心不已。”

在他的诗篇里，还有这样的诗句：

“白骨露于野，千里无鸡鸣。”(《蒿里行》)

“熊罴对我尊，虎豹夹路啼。”(《苦寒行》。
